Lars's Pawsome Rescue

Skyler_edited.jpg

Lars's Pawsome Resuce was established in 2024.

We are a nonprofit, 501c3 Status Rescue in Pierce County WA.

At Lars's Pawsome Rescue our mission is to provide a sanctuary of hope and healing for dogs that have been abandoned, neglected, abused or just need to get a new chance in life.

We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding forever homes for these dogs, ensuring they receive the compassionate care they deserve.

We know we cannot rescue every dog, but we want to change the life's of the ones we are rescuing.

We are 100% foster based.

Frequently Asked Questions

 FOSTERING, ADOPTING & SURRENDER

All applications are on our website. We can also email it to you.

If a dog is not good with other dogs it will be written in the dog's bio, underneath the picture.

Any of us known health problems will be in the dog's bio underneath the picture.

You are interested in fostering?
Start by submitting a foster application. Once we have that and it's approved, one of our volunteer staff will reach out to you.

With an approved foster application, you can send us a message if there is a dog you would like to foster.

The dogs will stay in the foster home until adopted. If the foster home has a planned vacation, please let us know as soon as possible so we can find a foster home for the time of the vacation.

If the foster dog does not seem to be a good match for the foster parent's home, please contact us and give us some time to find a new foster home. We will try to do our best to find a new foster in a timely manner.

When we have an approved application for your foster dog, we will first contact the applicant and then we will send you the name and phone number to the person who is interested in adopting and you can schedule a meet and greet.

The meet and greet can be at your home, their home or at a park nearby you.

If the meet and greet goes well (we will ask you how the meeting went) the adopter will need to contact LPR to receive and sign the trial adoption/ adopting agreement. LPR will let you know when we receive the signed document, and you can then schedule the transfer of your foster dog to the adopter. Special arrangements can be made for same day transfer.

Please take some pictures of the dog and the new adopter so we can make a post that your foster dog is on a trial adoption.

ADOPTION

How to adopt?
The first step towards adoption is to submit an application for the dog you are interested in. Not every application is well suited for the dog they apply for, and we will communicate with you openly about that. The second step is to have a meet and greet with the dog. Please remember that we are all volunteers and meet you in our own free time. Please be on time.  If that goes well, the third step is a trial adoption in your home, to ensure that the dog is indeed a good long-term match for you.  It is very important to us to make a great match between you and the dog. Before you take the dog home to a trial adoption, you will need to sign the contract and pay the adoption donation fee.

Our adoption application can be found on our website or send us an email at larsspawsomerescue2024@gmail.com and we will send you the application.

Do we need to have a fully fenced yard?
No, it is not an absolute requirement. It depends on the dog. Some will do well in a home without a yard, and some will not. We will typically indicate the need for a yard on the dog’s profile. We do NOT allow invisible fences or shock collars for any of our dogs.

Do you adopt to families with children?
Absolutely.  Dogs that live with children need higher tolerance levels than most, so we work with you to ensure that the dog you are interested in is suitable for your family.

Why do you charge an adoption donation fee? What does it cover?
They are necessary to help support the care of animals in our rescue group. Adoption donations also help to provide care for the other animals in our care, who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption donations. In addition, the adoption donations received act as a donation to help support our organization as a whole, allowing us to continue our efforts to rescue and find homes for more pets.

The adoption donations amounts will be posted on our website which is still in the works.

While a dog is in foster care, we will work on trust, potty training and basic comments.

But please remember we are not a training facility.

Please do NOT ask our fosters to keep a dog for you until the dog is 100 percent trained in your perspective.

If I send an application and the dog is adopted by someone else, do I have to apply again?
No, just email us and let us know which dog you’re interested in.

Why do you require my personal information on the adoption application?
These questions guide us in our matching efforts.

Do you adopt to families outside of WA?
We typically only place dogs in Washington and Oregon. In some cases, we choose to keep a certain dog local to us in WA. Because we provide close support during trial adoptions, and even after finalizing an adoption. We do not transport dogs to applicants.

Do you have a Wishlist?  What items could I donate?
We are happy to take donations! A contribution of leashes, harnesses, collars or food are very helpful for our fosters and dogs.
A link to our Amazon Wishlist is also on the website.

Does filling out the surrender form mean that LPR takes every dog?

No! We do not always have space for every dog. We also have the right to meet your dog first to see in what conditions your animal is and how he/she behaves around new people.

We also will need to find a foster home for the animal first.
